Learn About Weight Loss Pills

Recent studies have shown that more people are getting overweight every year. This happens not only to adults but even to kids who have just started in school.

There are many factors that have contributed to this such as the rise in the number of fast foods joints that contain a lot of saturated fat in the meals, the use of refined sugar in sodas and other processed foods, eating food with less fiber, genetics, overeating and as people age slow metabolism.

Since losing weight takes time and most people can’t wait to get rid of it, these people have decided to take the fastest way out which is through the use of weight loss tablets.

In the 1950’s until the late 90’s, doctors prescribed drugs for weight loss. The drug works by increasing the serotonin levels in the brain that makes the brain believe that the stomach is already full and thus, increases the person’s metabolic rate.

It was only after scientists discovered that these drugs had side effects and were related to cause heart valve disease that these were taken off the shelves.

Later on, modifications have been made and new drugs were developed and prescribed by doctors and many of which are still waiting for FDA approval.

The idea that a simple drug can change everything without the need to change ones diet or sacrificing anything is very tempting since people have seen friends and family members use it and have shown tremendous improvement.

This has made a lot of people spend millions of dollars every year to also experience this miracle and has given drug companies a lot of money making the drug and selling it.

Diet pills can be purchased either over-the-counter or prescribed by a doctor. Even with the advances in medical technology, these drugs still pose a health risk to the public. Problems in patients can be unpleasant such as diarrhea and vomiting, harmful such as tightness in the chest and in the urinary tract and fatal such as a heart attack or a stroke.

An overdose in using weight loss tablets can cause tremors, confusion, hallucinations, shallow breathing, renal failure, heart attack and convulsions.

The side effects vary depending on the lifestyle and health of the person and can be minimized as long as one consults the doctor and follows the prescribed dosage when using it.

Should one decide to stop using the drugs, studies have shown that a person will experience withdrawal symptoms and side effects. These include noticeable mood swings, hyper-activity, and pain in the stomach, insomnia and nightmares, severe irritability, extreme fatigue, depression, nausea, vomiting and trembling.

A lot of clinical tests will show that the taking this weight loss tablets really work. But this can only work if it is done with a low calorie diet and an exercise plan.

A person can jog every morning or sign up and workout in a gym. Just like taking any medicine, one should first consult the doctor before undergoing any form of exercise.

The best exercise plan should have cardiovascular and weight training exercises. This helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio that will increase ones metabolism and lose weight.

It is up to the person already to stick to the program to see that it works.

Recent studies have shown that more people are getting overweight every year. This happens not only to adults but even to kids who have just started in school.

A lot of factors cause this to happen such as genetics, overeating, the type of food taken into the body and as people age, the metabolism slows down making it harder than before to burn the food that was just consumed.

There are many ways to solve this problem. Some have decided to undergo surgery, while others have decided to change the dietary intake and exercise.

Since this takes time and most people can’t wait to get rid of the extra weight, these people have decided to take the fastest way out which is through the use of weight loss drugs.

A good diet should have food from all the food groups. This should have vitamins, minerals and fiber. A lot can come from oats, rice, potatoes and cereals. The best still come from vegetables and fruits since these have phytochemicals, enzymes and micronutrients that are essential for a healthy diet.

Weights for Women – Don’t Worry About the Weight

Weights for Women – Don’t Worry About the Weight!

Although weight training has traditionally been thought of as a male activity, research over the past 35 years has provided information that supports and refutes many of the previously held beliefs about the male/female differentiation in physiological performance.  In spite of all the research, many of the questions asked all those years ago, are still being asked today.

Women, on the average, are about 65% as strong as men.  Very few dispute this assertion due to obvious physical differences in males vs. females.  On the other hand, when other factors are taken into consideration, there are great variations from one part of the body to another, and in various movements of the same body part.  For example, even when body size is taken into consideration, men are as much as 60 – 65% stronger than women, in upper –body strength. Conversely, in terms of lean body mass, women are generally stronger than men in lower body strength.

As to the question of possible skeletal muscle differentiation between men and women, the actual muscle fibers are identical, although research suggests that there are subtle differences in the total makeup of muscle mass.

Researchers have seen that the cross-sectional area of muscle fibers is smaller in women, and there may be a difference in the number of fibers per specific muscle, versus men.

Generally, women have more Type I (slow twitch fibers) and men have more Type 2 (fast twitch) fibers.  Type 2 fibers tend to get larger (hypertrophy), so males have a head start when it comes to increasing muscles mass.

Women sometimes avoid resistance training for fear of looking too muscular, and less than feminine.  Society, traditionally, have expected men to appear muscular, and women to be leaner.  Physiologically, it is difficult for women to add excessive muscular mass.  Without supplementation, resistance training, for women, typically results in a reduction of the amount of fat over the existing musculature, with a moderate increase in muscle size.  The resultant effect is more muscle definition.  Certainly, a low-fat, lean-muscled female shape is not a negative.  In the unlikely event of a resultant level of muscle hypertrophy that is unwelcome, program modifications will reduce that effect.

Although ancient by this time, the term muscle-bound continued to find life in some literature.  Properly performed resistance training, far from decreasing flexibility, can actually increase average flexibility.  There is no need for women to avoid strength training for fear of limiting flexibility.  A pre-workout stretching regimen can not only increase flexibility, but may decrease the possibility of injury.

Although a traditional strength training program will have little, if any effect, on cardiovascular endurance, a circuit-training program has shown a beneficial cardio effect, in some studies.  Generally, there should be no difference in the cardiovascular effect of strength training, between men and women.

Because of individual differences, standardized programs do not provide uniform change.  Although women may not start at the same strength level as men, they have the ability to gain strength at the same rate as men.

Resistance training is equally valuable for both men and women.

The Truth About Training Frequency

If you’re practising weight training in order to build your body up, it’s vital that you know when you should be training, in order to get the maximum reward for your efforts.

If you’ve ever looked in a bodybuilding forum or discussion group, or if you’ve ever picked up a mainstream bodybuilding magazine, you’ll see numerous examples of people training four or more times a week. In June I picked up a copy of Flex, and found a suggested routine called “Get Shredded”, which suggested that you should train six times a week, with over 10 exercises per workout!

This is sheer madness. There is probably more lies, disinformation and just plain rubbish spouted in the mainstream bodybuilding press about training frequency than any other aspect of weight training except maybe diet.

You need to remember that the reason the mainstream bodybuilding glossies are able to survive is the amount of advertising they have to carry. The June issue of Flex mentioned above carried adverts for over 100 different products!

These are mostly protein mixes that cost the earth and in all honesty they don’t do anything for you that a proper diet can’t do.

Ask yourself how can they be promoting all these products, as they all do pretty much the same thing. That suggests to me that the advice they give is worthless – you can’t believe in 100 different protein powders if you have any integrity.

The magazines promote unrealistic training routines and then on the back of that they market the supplements to help you do the unworkable routines. And the forums pass this information on.

It’s a proven fact that muscle grows when you rest. You stimulate muscle growth in your workout, and then get out of the gym to allow the muscle to recover and grow. This cannot happen if you’re spending more days in the gym that not.

If you train with real intensity, which you should do, then I believe it’s impossible to train more than three times a week, and in fact my preference is two times a week. One of the rules of weight training is not to train if you’re still sore from a previous workout, and for this reason alone, training six times a week is unrealistic.

If you can do six workouts a week you can’t be training with real intensity, unless you’re one of the bodybuilding elite with genetics in the top 1 percent. Training in this way is actually damaging your progress.

Weight training is a terrific sport with huge health benefits attached to it, but a six days a week, or even a four day a week program will quickly become a drudge, and unless you’re a total fanatic you won’t stick at it for long.

I believe two hard workouts a week is your best chance of making real progress with the weights. Then, you can really hit them hard, and have at least two days of recovery in between times.

If you really can’t keep yourself out of the gym in between times, try a cardio workout, which will be of more benefit than another weight workout. (And try and get a life.)

This could be 40 minutes on an elliptical trainer (use your MP3 player and listen to your favourite music), or swimming, or whatever else you prefer, as long as it’s not percussive to the joints, which is why I don’t favour running. If you’re concerned about your fat levels, try doing cardio straight after hitting the weights. You’ll already be in calorie burning mode after the weights workout, so in theory you’ll burn off more calories this way.

So, to sum up; two or at the absolute maximum three hard workouts a week, ideally not more than one hour in duration.

If you’re on a six days a week program, cut it back to twice a week and watch your body respond!
